Hello! My name is Ghaleeb - I'm a third-year mechanical engineering student at Virginia Tech who is passionate about engineering and rocketry. This portfolio is a collection of some of my favorite projects that I've completed throughout my engineering journey so far.Â
Feel free to reach out, I'm always open to meeting new people!
Junior mechanical engineering student at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, VA (August 2023 - May 2027)
Worked 2 engineering internships across NASA and Lockheed Martin
Served several leadership positions including President, Lead Engineer, and Team Lead roles across rocketry and prosthetics engineering teams
Spearheaded several start-to-finish engineering projects
TECHNICAL PROJECTS:Â
Huntsville, Alabama | August 2025 - Current
Working a full-time fall co-op internship at the NASA Marshall Space Flight Center, supporting the ER62 Solid Propulsion and Pyrotechnic Devices branch
Utilizing Python, MATLAB, and ANSYS Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to create tools to simulate the internal ballistics of various solid and hybrid rocket motors and conduct mission feasibility studies
Analyze hybrid motor test data to quantify motor performance metrics and inform subsequent design iterations
Clarksburg, West Virginia | June 2025 - September 2025
Built an Excel-based part priority model for 5000+ flight critical components to reduce C-130J Super Hercules fairing and cargo ramp assembly delays by 15% by mapping technician workflows
Leveraged CATIA V5 to develop 12 annotated exploded-view diagrams of production assemblies using GD&T-based blueprints to communicate assembly processes with C-130 stakeholders
Cataloged 680+ critical-load parts for 4 priority assemblies with labeled imagery to expedite supply chain response times for part delays
September 2024 - Current
Lead 9 member team to develop a 2-stage solid rocket propulsion and initiator system to hit 100km apogee
Reduced voltage required for sustainer ignition by 70% (12V down to under 3.7V) by custom designing ignitor pellets
Developed sustainer head-end ignition sealant system, increasing rocket apogee from 1700 ft to 4800 ft (+182%)
Construct rocket motor test stand using CAD / Fusion 360, Arduino, C++, and load cell to collect propulsion thrust data
Designing custom motor nozzle using ballistic simulation software, MATLAB, and DFM principles
September 2023 - May 2025
President May 2024 - May 2025
Spearheaded the development of 6 technical sub-teams to engineer prosthetic devices by directing 13 team leads, 135 club members, and a 10-member executive board
Led 4 projects to projects to present at Harvard and Pittsburgh national conferences for the first time in club history
Fully restructured club operations and leadership board to support club needs - grew club fundraising by 742% and connected club with over 800 clients, transformed the club into one of the most prominent e-NABLE chapters in the United States
Prosthetics Lead September 2023 - May 2024
Took full project ownership in leading an 8-member team in designing, developing, and manufacturing a low-cost, novel patent-pending iPad keyguard design
Dropped cost from market value of $50-$150 down to only $3.30 per unit by iterating through 4 prototypes, leveraging CAD, 3D printing, and laser cutting
Distributed 5 units of final product to local elementary schools to help special needs students communicate
Device won 1st place out of 600+ participants in "Engineering Research Competition" award at National Conference on Undergraduate Research in Pittsburgh
April 2024 - October 2024
Directed the 2nd largest student-led career fair in the United States
Brought over 250 companies and 7,500+ students and recruiters
Created a sales tool using HTML, Excel, and AirTable to automate the generation of custom outreach messages to over 2000 HR Managers
Co-led a 14-member executive board and over 100 volunteers to execute all event operations, fundraising $650,000 and improving event ratings by 9% (85% in 2023 to 94% in 2024)
October 2023 - March 2024
Led a team of 3 in formulating and pitching an AR glasses product concept that locally processes machine data to deliver technician job instructions
Won 1st Place in Manufacturing Operations for school-wide $2000 scholarship challenge hosted by Boeing, evaluated by 9 Boeing judges
